I’m hosting one at our local library in July, and hope to make it a recurring event! I’ll have a mending book collection there, and will bring a few pieces from my own mends as examples.
What a great resource! I started a mending and making circle in downtown Brooklyn because I wanted a place to regularly force MYSELF to fix/work on the things I need to. I’ll add a comment to the sheet when I’m not on my phone but here’s a link. https://nycquakers.org/events/mending-making-night/2025/05/20
We meet in the Brooklyn Quaker meeting house and all friends are welcome!
Someone started a craft circle through a neighborhood Facebook group where mending was called out as something people might like to do there! It's been a great way to meet other people and learn more bit by bit
I love this Danielle! I was actually just thinking of trying to start a mending circle at my local library in Bushwick rather than commute across the borough to excellent but further ones…If anyone is in the area and would like to join up to start one, let me know!!
I’m also hoping to me at your event on the 13th :)
I don’t know about a mending circle (bigtime introvert here😀) but I love the idea of mending. I have been away from home for 4 months—I brought 3 cardigans. One my husband put in the washing machine☹️ The other 2 are cashmere and they are so worn. But you have inspired me to mend them. I don’t have any cashmere yarn that matches them (or any at all, actually—remember when sweaters used to come with extra yarn?) but I love the idea of using something contrasting. I was going to dump my sweaters at an op shop (I am truly sick of them), but now I am inspired to mend.

Amazing! This is prompting an edit to my list - I have a piece of fabric I bring with different examples of stitch and patch types
I'm going to see if any of our sustainability people at my library would like to team-lead this.
I am so impressed by this idea! I feel inspired to host a smaller one amongst my friends at first and then maybe open it up to other plus size folks!

Amazing, I will have to make it out to one I’m not too far from there!
